COMPARISON OF SPIRITUAL GIFTS |

Gifts which existed before and after
Acts 28:28 In Acts 3 God made a direct offer to Israel to restore their kingdom on earth. This offer continued in effect until Acts 28:28. Following Acts 28:28 God revealed a new body of truth that was not connected with the restoration of Israel's kingdom. The following table outlines a few of the differences between the pre- and post- Acts 28:28 dispensations. Note, in particular, the absence of the miraculous gifts of tongues and healings following the setting aside of National Israel at Acts 28:28. |
1 Corinthians 12 [Before Acts 28:28] |
Ephesians 4 [After Acts 28:28] |
But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. [vs. 18]
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. [vs. 7]
Now ye are Christs body, and members in particular. [vs. 27] |
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. [vs. 4]
But to each one of us has been given grace according to the measure of the gift of the Christ. [vs. 7]
For the perfecting of the saints; with a view to [the] work of [the] ministry, with a view to the edifying of the body of Christ. [vs. 12] |
And God hath set some in the church: [vs. 28]
first apostles; secondarily prophets; thirdly teachers;
then miraculous powers; then gifts of healings; helps; governments; kinds of tongues.
|
And he has given [vs. 11]
some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers
